The MTL830 series multiplexer adopts Modbus communication, providing a more economical solution for single point temperature transmission. Transmitting multiple on-site signals to the control room through communication lines can save 50% of installation costs, and also save users DCS conversion cards and cabinet space.
The transmitter of the MTL830 series conversion system is installed in Zone 0 of the hazardous area. All uncontrolled temperature sensors (thermocouples/thermistors) in the system are protected by intrinsic safety. The temperature points on site are connected through a temperature acquisition module installed on site, and the collected temperature signals are transmitted digitally to the control room. The connected signals can be thermocouple, thermistor, and MV model inputs. The protection level of each on-site acquisition module is Exia IIC T4, and the power supply of the module adopts a loop power supply method.
Redundant data lines are used for communication between transmitters in hazardous areas and receivers in safe areas, with the connecting cable serving as both a data communication line and a power line. When using dedicated cables, the communication distance can reach 2km. The connecting cable can also use intrinsically safe ordinary instrument signal cables or twisted pair cables. The baud rate for communication should be selectable from 300 to 19200.
The communication method between the temperature point and DCS adopts Modbus RTU, and the communication interface is RS485. There is a receiver in the control room that converts signals into Modbus RTU protocol accepted by DCS or PLC. It can communicate and connect with various DCS systems (Honeywell, Yokogawa, ABB, Emerson, Foxboro, etc.).
二、 characteristic:
The MTL830 series temperature converter is an advanced bus transmission system that can greatly save users' compensation cables and cable construction costs.
1. The on-site transmission unit is connected to the control room through a bus, saving a lot of thermocouple compensation cables.
2. The on-site transmission unit can be placed in Zone 0 of hazardous areas, and the protection method is Exia. Using MTL830 multiplexer in hazardous areas will greatly reduce the amount of safety barriers used.
3. The communication method between MTL830 series and DCS is Modbus RTU. A Modbus card of DCS can carry 300 temperature points, so using MTL830 series temperature converter can save a lot of I/O cards.
4. The on-site transmission unit is powered by a two-wire circuit and does not require separate power supply to the site.
5. The communication with the same machine adopts the open MODBUS-RTU protocol, which can be connected to various DCS systems (Honeywell, Yokogawa, ABB, Emerson, Foxboro, etc.) for communication.
6. The on-site transmission unit communicates with the central control room in a redundant manner, improving the reliability of the system.
三、 System configuration:
Each MTL831 can connect 16 thermocouple signals, and each MTL838 can connect 2 MTL831s. MLT831 and M TL838 transmit data through two redundant cables, while MTL838 communicates with DCS via MODBUS protocol. Each DCS communication port can connect 31 MTL838s, therefore 992 thermocouples can be connected.
