　　The Schmersal  SLC/SLG 440 IP69K Series: Hygienic and Durable

　　Schmersal Group has developed a new series of safety light curtains and barriers specifically designed for hygiene-sensitive areas such as the food industry, including meat and dairy processing, as well as the pharmaceutical sector.

　　The new SLC/SLG 440 IP69K series of safety light curtains/barriers is engineered to withstand the rigorous cleaning processes typical of these industries. Through meticulous design, this series achieves an IP69K protection rating, ensuring that water ingress is prevented even during close-range, high-pressure, and high-temperature spray downs. This means that the sealed housing of this Automated Optical Protection Device (AOPD) is based on hygienic design principles and meets stringent requirements, enabling it to withstand frequent cleaning with clean water, alkaline solutions, foam, hot steam, or high-pressure jets. The new AOPD production line is also built upon hygienic design principles.

　　The locking nuts, cable entries, and fastening components of the Schmersal SLC/SLG 440 IP69K safety light curtains/barriers are all made of stainless steel (V4A). The transparent protective tubes are constructed from polycarbonate (PC), making them robust and highly resistant to cleaning agents while also withstanding significant mechanical loads. As a result, if a pressure washer accidentally hits the SLC/SLG 440 IP69K housing during food production or transportation cleaning processes, or if there is some degree of impact during transport, the safety functionality remains intact.

　　This material selection ensures greater availability and longer service life for the safety light curtains and barriers. The compact design of the encapsulated safety sensors is also facilitated by the use of protective tubes with a diameter of just 50mm. The high resistance of these component materials has been verified by independent testing laboratory Ecolab.

　　The AOPD product series also boasts additional features such as dual confirmation, contactor control, and integrated beam blanking, allowing moving parts to traverse the protected area through the protective field without triggering a stop signal. Another practical feature is the dirt indicator light, which visually warns users when sensor reception weakens, enabling proactive action before unintended machine stops occur.
